Visits to Point Return Farm

Organic Lunch at POINT RETURN— Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008
http://goodnewsindia.com/pointreturn/online

cobA group of 23 visited DV Sridharan's Point Return farm in Maduranthagam, started a vegetable garden, cooked a millet lunch together, built a short mud wall. Chitra found it "really good to feel the earth with her hands and feet, and be so closely connected with nature". Sanjitha found "cooking lunch for 20 people using only 2 rocket stoves, amazing". Laura found it "simply divine to get out of Chennai's chaos, far away from the city's buzzing, and connect with the soil, sun and other lovely people". Thanks to DV, the organisers and participants for having made the very first REC event a great one!

We are currently putting thought into how we want to provide the space and opportunity for so much interest and enthusiasm to find expression!

Report from Sangeetha Sriram
Ananthu, Preethi, Namrata and I—along with DV—made it to Point Return farm on Aug 5, 2008 and worked on the rocket stove and the cow-dung flooring.

Rocket stove

While Swaminathan (who lives on the farm) chipped in with his cool, practical ideas for the rocket stove, his mother Velliamma led the cow-dung daubing activity. The star of the day was Namrata, who did both of them with such ease and skill that nobody believed her when she said she was handling the earth and cow-dung in her hands for the very first time! daub group at DVs farm
