Tugil Bio Cotton Shirts
produced as part of an initiative of ADISIL in Thirumangalam, near Madurai.
Probably the most sustainably produced shirts you will wear!
- made of organic native varieties of cotton
- grown in rainfed conditions i.e. no groundwater is exploited
- the yarn is hand-spun (khadi) and use natural dye
- cloth handwoven by traditional weavers of the district
- tailored with hand-operated sewing machines
- coconut shell buttons
No chemicals are used at any stage. After washing this shirt retains an amazing shape and softness. Wear it with pride!
Note: We currently stock a limited quantity of these Bio cotton shirts, produced as part of a pilot project to enhance the livelihoods of the organic cotton growers and handloom weavers of the area. Read more here.
Only two designs (shirts and kurtas) are available in Size 38 and 40. Further garment and household textile production will be part of the next cycle of this project and we look forward to helping make these available widely!
